FORT GRAND PRIX 2012. ROUND 1.

Yet again, another excellent turn out of 59 shooters tackled the latest HFT course at Gweryd Lakes. For the first time, a new section in the top part of the woods was utilised, and very popular it proved to be too.

A great deal of effort was put in by the course setters over a couple of days, most of it clearing a path for the firing line and new lanes for the targets. The woods are pretty dense here so well done to all who were involved in putting in the hard work.

Nigel Williams and Mike Turner tied for 1st place with excellent scores of 59/60. Mark Smith with a new personal best of 58/60, equalled the same score as current U.K. Champ, Dave Ramshead and the very much on form, Richard Jefferies.

There were many personal best scores on the day but for me, the most rewarding part of the day was hearing the banter and laughter up and down the firing line. It seemed that everyone was having a really good time, just the way HFT should be.

SUNDAY 26th MARCH, 2012.

Fort Airgun Club ran it's monthly competition at Gweryd Lakes last Sunday.  34 members turned up to enjoy the spring like weather and shoot the newly revised course which had been set out in the bottom of the woods. The course was set out to the 2012 UKAHFT rules and proved to be very enjoyable whilst remaining challenging. Well, at least it was a challenge for all but one shooter, Richard Jefferies, who returned a magnificent 59/60. His score was a full three points clear of the chasing pack. To achieve an almost perfect score on a tricky course, with just enough wind to keep you alert, was a superb achievement.

Fort club chairman, Bill Jones and Fort club captain, Danny Jones, both finished with excellent scores of 56. Next was Fort club president, Nige Williams on 55. Some scores of note were returned by Matty Foster (54), Chris Baker (53) and Andy Stevenson (52) who is making a very welcome return to fitness and form after his near fatal accident.
